She brought together both worlds and helped bring Tejano music to the forefront. Her sudden passing that shattered the rising star's profile. It happens to a lot of stars who die far too young. To prevent her successes from going unnoticed her many admirers over these past few years have been motivated to achieve more. The death of Selena triggered an emotional response within the Latino culture that can be likened to Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. Selena's music, a singer who was hugely successful in Latino Communities across North America touched people young and old. Selena might have been described by some as the Latina Madonna, however she's still an excellent role model. Selena's values of family life offstage and her participation with AIDS awareness programs are exemplary.
